It is a 'paint by radical' for children. I think most of us did the 'paint by number' or 'paint by letter' exercises in elementary school, so you'll probably feel very familiar with this concept. Download the 'paint by radical' prototype (FREE)I very much hope it will be useful, both for my own son and for your kids. If it is well-received by the visitors of my website, then I will make sure to make some more of this. The point of paint by radicalThe idea is to help children understand how Chinese characters are compounds of different radicals. To many westerners the Chinese characters look much like a bunch of smacked spiders. How do kids view them? I imagine it would be pretty much the same - at least in the beginning. In this Paint by Radical there are five different radicals to look out for.Four of these five radicals will be very easy to find and paint, as they have the same position in all the characters. One of them will be harder though, as the radical may be positioned on top, in the bottom, to the left or in even inside the character.Happy coloring!.3/21/2014 4:14:25 AMAs a follow-up to the previous blog post, here is another 'paint by'-pdf.
This time the exercise is not about recognizing the radical, instead it is a 'paint by Chinese character'. There is also a lot more colors in it.Below is a preview of the file.
